Bring Me the Head of the Buddha is a cyberpunk science-fiction adventure novel set in pleasure-driven Baccha Bay City where Bonnie Levi-Mei works as an undercover counter-insurgent for the Security Services of the Global Secular Alliance, the late-21st century, global government that united the nations of the world by banning all religion, offering in its place a garish world of technology and narcotic-fueled hedonism.
On Bonnie's first mission, she is sent by the Director to infiltrate the fractured, faith-based militant groups that rose to fight the G.S.A.. Her objective is to capture a mysterious, four-foot-tall prophet called the Buddha. Everything is going as planned when, without explanation, Bonnie's own side declares her an enemy of the state and places her at the top of the Blacklist, to be shot on sight.
Hunted by her own people, Bonnie's only hope to complete her mission and clear her name is to sign on as a hired gun for an unnamed client who wants the Buddha, too. Bonnie is forced to team up with Casper, a perpetually stoned car thief, Hi-5, the megastar Queen of PornoPop, La Cazadora, a murderous, bitter, White Sunday insurgent, and a team of mercenary hackers called The Dark.
Bonnie accepts a merc job that involves a spectacular, insurgent assault on the G.S.A.'s Ziggurat stronghold, but sooner or later, Bonnie will have to betray her new teammates and steal the Buddha if she wants to prove her loyalty to the Security Services.
